Sharing the Road

To pitch the product Brake Free, you first need to understand the dangers of motorcycles. Because we do not have an Isett motorcycle fleet, this learning will focus on the hazards of sharing the road with motorcycles and how to keep all drivers safe.

Complete the first 3 activities to prepare for your pitch.

1. Read: How to Follow a Motorcycle

We need to share the road with motorcycles in order to keep everyone safe. Please read the article below to get the facts.

Key Points:

  • Maintain a Safe Following Distance: Ensure a gap of at least 2 seconds in ideal conditions, extending to 4-6 seconds in adverse weather to prevent accidents.

  • Consider Influencing Factors: Adjust your distance based on weather, speed, road type, and traffic density to enhance safety.

  • Apply the Two-Second Rule: Use a fixed point to measure the 2-second gap, increasing it based on varying conditions and motorcycle characteristics.

  • Account for Motorcyclist Behavior: Stay vigilant for sudden stops or maneuvers and regularly check mirrors and blind spots.

  • Understand Legal Implications: Tailgating can result in severe legal consequences, including fines, points on your license, and potential lawsuits.

2. Watch Motorcycle Advice for Car Drivers

Watch this video (1:49) by Hupy & Abraham Injury Lawyers about how to safely drive your car around motorcycles.

Pay special attention to the reasons why motorcycles may swerve and why you may not see them.

3. Look at Images of Motorcycle Lights

It's time to learn about why your product was specifically designed.

For your last activity, you're going to look at a PDF of images that show both motorcycles and cars, to recognize how much easier it is to see cars than motorcycles when mostly viewing them by their lights.

If you decide to negotiate for more Barry Bucks after your pitch, you can use these images to build your use case.
